Miguelito always knew he was meant to be a musician. “When I was a kid, I was always inventing songs and playing instruments. My mom told me that one day they had a party; I was one year old, and I played with the band all night long. My grandpa said to my mom that it just became evident that I would keep doing music my whole life.”

Miguelito promotes and creates awareness about the musical richness and diversity of Mexico, widening the narrow view that the world has of Latin America. After two years of playing in diverse venues, nationally and internationally, Miguel Martínez traveled to the United States, where he lives now. Miguelito stays busy in the San Francisco Bay Area’s Latin music scene, playing Afro-Caribbean Music and Latin Jazz with Internationally renowned musicians. In 2009 he was selected by the Santana Milagro Foundation to be on the Voces del Cambio show on the Discovery Channel in which he shared his insight on how to utilize music as an instrument for newcomer children from Latin America to integrate into their new community. In the same year, he was awarded the best Latin Jazz Flautist of The Year for the Latin Jazz Corner. Besides his busy musical career as a composer, musician, and educator, He enjoys cooking, traveling, and hiking with his daughter Nayeli Ollin.
